Like the GMC Sierra, the 2001 Cheverlot Silverado came in 3/4-ton 2500 and Half-ton 1500 models.

Trims and Body Styles

Both were offered in extended cab and regular cab trim levels. But also the model 3/4-ton 2500 came in 4-dr Crew Cab. Extended-cabs had twin rear-hinged back doors, which did not opened free of the front doors and a rear bench seat. Crew cabs had rear bench and standard front-opening doors.

All trims were available with either front bench or bucket seat. Extended- and regular-cabs offered flush-fender Fleetside trunk boxes of 8.1 or 6.5 feet long, and 6.5-feet flare-fender Sportside box, whereas Crew Cab came with a single shorter Fleetside box. On 1500 4WD extended-cabs along with Z71 package optional 6.5-ft Fleetside cargo box made with rust- and dent- resistant compound materials.

Power-Train

Extended- and regular-cab 1500s were used either a standard 4.3-liter V6 engine or optional 5.3- and 4.8-liter V8s engines. Crew cabs only cam with a 6.0-liter V8 engine that powered all 2500s. Both manual and automatic transmissions were offered, and the latter featured a Haul/Tow mode that adjusted points to enhance power under huge loads. Silverados were available in RWD and all-wheel drive, which were designed for only dry pavements.
