2009 Chevrolet Silverado

The 2009 Chevrolet Silverado will be available with 5.3L, 6.0L or 6.0L engines, each with a six speed automatic transmission. The Silverado has been the best selling full size pickup truck for a number of years, including the most recent model. The 6.0L engine is new to this year’s model, making the truck 367 horsepower.

Engines:

  • 4.3L V6 – 195 HP
  • 4.7L V8 – 295 HP
  • 5.3L V8 – 315 HP
  • 6.0L V8 – 367 HP

The truck will be available with a choice of three cargo box lengths, measuring from 5′ 8″ to 8′. A vehicle stability enhancement system is now standard on the truck, as well as an integrated brake controller. New 18″ and 20″ wheels are available, with two new paint choices, Black Granite Metallic and Imperial Blue Metallic.

Options include an OnStar 8.0 system complete with Turn-by-Turn Navigation and Bluetooth. This may also feature XM NavTraffic for speedy traffic updates as you drive. The rear view mirror can now display a rear view camera, as a standard feature not dependent on which trim you purchase. A hybrid version of the truck is new available, along with many of the trim options seen in previous years.

With GM’s hard economic times, it is hard to tell if the new Silverado will make a change for them, but one thing is for sure, with all the new features and 6 speed transmission matched with powerful engines, it sure has a good chance of selling through the roof.
